Paul Albou was born in Paris (France) on February 13, 1926. He spent his childhood in Algiers, where his parents had settled a few months after his birth. There, he studied Law and was called to the Bar in 1947. In 1949 he went back to Paris, where he studied Sociology, Cultural Anthropology and Psychology, and he was awarded a Master of Arts and a PhD (Letters), a State honours Degree (Maxima cum laude). 

After having been in charge of Research for the General Productivity Organisation, he was appointed a member of the National Planning Office. In 1968, he joined the Academic Institutions and was elected Assistant of Psychology at the University of Paris-X Nanterre, then he became Associate Professor at the Paris University Institute of Technology, and, at last, Professor of Social Psychology at the René Descartes University, where he founded and directed the Laboratory of Economic Psychology. Chevalier of the Academic Palms, he is, at the present time, Emeritus professor of the René Descartes University and honorary Director of the Laboratory of Economic Psychology. 

He is specialised in Economic Psychology, which he taught at the Clermont Ferrand Faculty of Law and Economics, the National School of Arts and Crafts, and several other Paris Universities. He also studied the Psychology of international relations, the techniques of social research, and the applications of the social sciences to the problems of Work, Ergonomics, Health, Forecasting, and International Tourism. He has written 15 books and 118 papers.

Né à Paris, le 13 Février 1926, Paul Albou a passé son enfance à Alger où ses parents s'étaient installés peu après sa naissance. Il y a fait des études de Droit, et s'est inscrit au Barreau en 1947. Rentré en France en 1949, il s'est intéressé aux sciences de l'homme et ses études ont été couronnées par un Diplôme de Docteur es Lettres (Doctorat d'Etat), mention "Très honorable".

Après avoir été Chargé de recherches au Commissariat Général à la Productivité, puis Chargé de mission au Commissariat Général du Plan, Paul Albou a rejoint l'Université. Assistant de psychologie à l'Université de Paris X-Nanterre, puis Maître de Conférences associé à l'Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Paris, il a été élu professeur de psychologie sociale à l'Université René Descartes. Il y a créé, et dirigé le Laboratoire de psychologie économique. Chevalier des palmes Académiques, il est actuellement Professeur Emérite à l'Université René Descartes, et Directeur honoraire du Laboratoire de Psychologie Economique.

Sa spécialité est la Psychologie économique, qu'il a enseignée à la Faculté des sciences économiques de Clermont Ferrand, au Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, et dans plusieurs universités parisiennes, dont l'Université René Descartes. Ses recherches ont porté également sur la psychologie des relations économiques internationales, les techniques de la recherche sociale, et les applications des sciences humaines aux problèmes du travail, de l'ergonomie, de la santé, de la prévision, et du tourisme international. Il a écrit 15 ouvrages et 118 articles.
